With its vast array of talent, Montreal is naturally considered one of the key international capitals of the circus arts. So many factors work as a catalyst to bring life to Montreal’s circus scene, from one of world’s largest advanced circus training schools (the National Circus School) to an international-calibre festival (MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE, produced by TOHU), the largest circus in the world (Cirque du Soleil), a pool of talent that perform on stages around the world with such companies as Cirque Éloize and Les 7 doigts de la main, and a place of creativity and distribution that’s unique in North America (TOHU).

From the start, activities geared towards professionals during the Festival have grown at impressive rates. In fact, participation has almost quadrupled—from 30 professionals in 2010 to over 240 professionals from 24 countries in 2016

That’s why we decided give this collection of activities a name in 2015: the Marché International de Cirque Contemporain (MICC).

The MARCHÉ INTERNATIONAL DE CIRQUE CONTEMPORAIN is proud to have helped raised the profile of so many professionals over the years, and has become a key rite of passage in the circus world.

MICC goals:
• Support and promote the development of circus arts on the international scene.
• Encourage commercial discussions between companies and broadcasters.
• Develop a North American co-distribution network.
• Raise the profile of creative artists in Canada.
